Tired of complicated song tutorials? Learn Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" on ukulele in just 30 seconds, using only 3 chords you already know (C, G, and F) for most of the track. No fancy fingerpicking, no marathon practice sessions.
This is the ultimate beginner-friendly song. You'll need 7 chords total (C, G, F, E7, Dm, Em, and Am), but honestly, you'll play C-G-F on repeat for the entire chorus. The strum pattern? Just an up-strum followed by a gentle slap. That's it.
-
C Major
Place your ring finger on the 3rd fret of the bottom (A) string. All other strings open. Bright and happy, your go‑to chord. -
G Major
Press the 2nd fret of the C string (middle finger) and the 3rd fret of the E string (ring finger). Full and resonant. -
F Major
Barre the 1st fret of the E and A strings with your index finger, then place your middle finger on the 2nd fret of the G string. Smooth and mellow. -
E7
Place your index finger on the 1st fret of the G string, middle on the 2nd fret of the C string, and ring on the 2nd fret of the A string. Bluesy flavor. -
D minor
Barre the 1st fret of the E and A strings (index), then press the 2nd fret of the C string (middle) and the 2nd fret of the G string (ring). Moody and deep. -
E minor
Press the 2nd fret of the A string with your ring finger, and the 3rd fret of the E string with your pinky. Or just barre the 2nd fret of all strings. Sweet and melancholic.
Hit play on the short above. I'll walk you through the entire song, chord by chord, and we'll nail that lazy groove together. The full chorus uses C-G-F, so you'll be singing along in no time.
