I Filled My Ukulele With JELL-O
(Here Is How It Actually Sounds)
Have you ever looked at the soundhole of your acoustic ukulele and thought, "What would happen if I filled this entire instrument with gelatin?" Probably not! But I did. For my fifth acoustic experiment, I decided to completely fill up my uke with JELL-O to see exactly how it affects the resonance.
As you can hear in the short video above, filling an instrument with a dense liquid completely changes the acoustics. The gelatin absorbs all the natural vibration from the wood. The resulting muffled sound is honestly not too great turning a bright, tropical instrument into a dull, sticky thud.
But we always try to look on the bright side here at Ray's Ukulele. If you ever get stranded on a desert island with this specific ukulele setup, at least you won't go hungry! Hit play on the video to hear test number five for yourself.
