About this Lesson
What's up YouTube! Welcome back to Ray's Ukulele where today we're learning to play the beautiful hymn "I Am a Child of God".
This song uses a total of 8 chords. Most of them are basic, and the others are fun variations that sound tricky but are actually quite easy to learn!
The chords are: C, F, G, A7, Dm, D7, C7, and G7. If you want to match the pitch exactly, you can optionally put a capo on the 1st fret.
Strumming Patterns
We are going to mostly be sticking with a simple Island Strum, but we'll add a few variations to give it feeling.
1. The Main Strum (Island Strum)
2. The Intro & Quick Changes
When you are playing the intro or quick transitions (like F to G), you can just do two down strums per chord.
3. The Hold
When you get to the emotional lines like "Teach me all that I must do" (on the Dm), you can just do a single down strum and let it ring out.
